Got 10 more! Some old games, some newer. Some fast paced, some more methodical.
Here is the first list of 10 songs.
In this shoutout, I’d like to relay a message from my friend Alex. I will not precurse what the piece is about; I’d rather the reader interpret this for themselves.
“If you’re a creative type – whether it’s a career or a hobby or something in between – love your works, warts and all. Show them compassion. Appreciate them for what they are. Your heart gave birth to them, and your careful labor shaped them. A good parent doesn’t hate their children for being born with a club foot or developing some adolescent pimples, and their love doesn’t come on the condition of perfection. F*** the phrase ‘kill your darlings.’ Yeah, some projects are destined to fail, and you need to let them. And yeah, sometimes there’s an element of tough love to the editing process. But harshness is not the solution. It only leads to second-guessing, the kind that will stunt both their growth and your own. Regardless of what anyone tells you, your best work will come not from ruthless adherence to your plans and expectations, but from a loving eye.”
This piece really resonated with me and reflects my viewpoints on how I approach my creative endeavors. Whether it’s baking bread or building a mobile app, your projects can find way through this lesson.
I’m putting this in philosophy as well.
Several months ago, my friend and I made a short film. Thought I’d get it out here.
Here is the description:
“Confronted with the harsh reality of a lacking food supply, Bob must do the inevitable and order pizza. What he does not expect however, is a side of extra justice.”
Here it is:
I never thought I’d see a Disturbed song on a top 40 radio station. I also never thought I’d see a Disturbed song make it on my playlist I want played at my funeral. But the genre lines have been crossed and I’d like to think that a gorgeous masterpiece came out of it. I was definitely moved miles the first time I heard this cover from Simon & Garfunkel.
Genre: Orchestral Soft Rock
Vibes: Tear-jerking, Fit for a Funeral
Dem Feels: 5/5
New series idea: 10 songs from video games that have a special place in my heart.
Without further ado here are the first 10! Links to hear them will be managed; I will try my best to make sure they stay updated to working links.
Being a true fan of the Sacramento Kings is sometimes like watching your brother’s grade school band recital. Lots of high pitch annoying clarinet squeaks, some trumpet flutters, hot noise so deafening it pains you, but you know what? That’s your brother up there! He’s your family. Wouldn’t want to be anywhere else right?
This is probably the only RHCP song where I did not recognize who did it 30 seconds the first time I heard it. From the funky bass to the energy pumping guitar and drums, RHCP is currently my favorite band. Glad to see they made such a high quality song in their latest album.
Also, I will be using YouTube links for songs that don’t have a free full version on Soundcloud.
Genre: Funk/Alt Rock
Vibes: Mysterious, Groovy, Feel Good
