One of my favorite posts to make each year is here! As this year was bananas for me in my personal life, I didn’t have as much time to play games but ten songs still stood out to me. Not having that played game to complement the song made it harder for me to put songs on this list if I haven’t played the game, hence why over half of this list I heard in game.
I’m beginning to notice I incidentally follow and repeat song appearances from the same composers, who I favorite, this year including Tee Lopes (known for Sonic Mania), Go Ichinose (Pokemon series), or Mark Sparling (this is his 2nd game OST to my knowledge after Short Hike). I’m surprised Lena Raine didn’t make her annual appearance this time!
As I tend to not favor the orchestral symphonies (Elden Ring, GOW: Ragnarok, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, XC3), spooky/ atmospheric (Cult of the Lamb, Immortality, Tunic), or too much wub (Neon White, Sifu), this was another tricky list to put together! But, in typical fashion, once I figured out my 10, 10 more bangers came to mind..
