While this song came out in the 70s, it was recently used as a critical score on episode 3 of the new Last of Us series on TV. The show I don’t have the stomach for spooky themes in general, but my partner encouraged me to just watch the right parts 17 minutes in of episode three, and what I saw unfold from there was one of the most beautiful stories I’ve ever seen in modern media. I can’t do zombies but I’d recommend that episode to anyone.
This song was instantly added to my most cherished collection of music, fitting for a funeral, that makes me feel deeply human and sentimental. I love the duality of this song being both gorgeous and also heart-wrenching. I have a deep gratefulness for artists who’ve created such powerful soul-stirring ballads from head to toe. This song, in tandem with the memories of that episode will make a lasting impact on me.
