A Tier List of Marvel Snap Cards (feat. my feelings)

I told myself I wouldn’t make much Marvel Snap material on my blog as I get the same icky feeling as when I throw recycling away in the garbage and think of the future world I’ve contributed to.. but I’ve tailored my stance to say, you know what, this game is really fun ANDDDD also has concerning predatory business practices and comes from a problematic company. So as long as I complain about the ethics involved in supporting this company to the top of anything I mention them in, I’ll feel better about myself.. am I karma- neutral?

Anyway! I still like this game a lot and recently made a friend a tier list for deciding which Marvel Snap cards are the best and worst so he could plan his in-game card acquisition order because if you screw that up you’re very disadvantaged (oh hey did I mention the in-game economy is poop?). And while doing that I thought oh hey, it would a fun little exercise here to go ahead and rank all 230 cards currently made and counting by the week, ranked by on the most fickle element of all: my vibes.

Speaking of fickle, half of this list could be radically different in a couple months as the game likes to tweak the balance of their game all the time (great for freshness, bad for attachment or feeling of investment of any kind whatsoever).

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (+DLC) Track Tier List

Another day another tier list! This time, I ranked all 96 tracks (well over half the tracks ever made) in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which doubled its track count via DLC dripped over the last couple years. With it being a couple months since all tracks have come out, I found it fitting to finally rank them all!

All tracks are ranked in order within the tier.

Rooting for NBA Players Tier List – Jan 2024

Back in 2021 I made this tier list and I was flummoxed with how my list of ranking multi-millionares could have possibly aged so poorly – with players I proclaimed rooting for doing a matter of disagreeable decisions since then, from stomping on chests to repeatedly flashing their guns to advocating for anti-vax content.

Thus, here I am with another list, hopefully with less regrets!

I am 6 teams away from having a Draymond clip of him physically harming every NBA team (with some teams having upwards of 10 clips). Seeing him catch a stray felt like some karmic retribution.

Bread Tier List

I’ve ranked vegetables, fruit, potato dishes, sauces, chips, lemons, clouds, the silhouettes of US states, heck doing the dishes. I’ve done so many tier lists, it gets their own section on this blog. Yet I’ve never done breads, partially due to the difficulty it is to cut off which breads to mention, and when refining the list how to consolidate all forms of say “bagels.” So these are just the most popular breads in the US. But I’ve also avoided making a bread tier list because.. well.. bread is sacred. There is such emotion attached to eating bread in most households, including my own, so I did concern myself with offending others. But if I can rank Ghibli movies and had the audacity to put Spirited Away in B tier.. I can do this.

Studio Ghibli Tier List

My partner and I are a Ghibli household. There is generational appreciation for these films and throughout the pandemic, these mastahPIECES offered respite in the storm. Akin to the potato tier list before this one, ranking Ghibli movies offers a unique problem that each movie is delightful in its own right.

I did not watch every movie made by Studio Ghibli, but I did watch enough to rank every featured film where Hayao Miyazaki is the screenwriter in charge. Thus, this tier list will just be that. Within each tier my favorites are ranked left to right.

Rooting for NBA Players Tier List – June 2021

It’s high time for another tier list around these parts! NBA season is full blast in the second round of the playoffs and I couldn’t be more hyped to watch games right now. 6 out of 8 teams remaining I’d love to watch win it all, which then I realized made it hard for me to determine who I want winning. When it comes the NBA, I’ve noticed over the years I root more for the player than for the team (with some Southern Californian exceptions). That being said, I thought it would be fun to look up a list of the top players and rank em’ all (I don’t have opinions on just anyone who grazes the court). I am especially motivated since my favorite NBA player of all time went down this year with a career ending heart condition (LaMarcus Aldridge).

Of course some caveats.
1.) This is a snapshot from June 10th 2021. Players do things all the time that gave me gain or lose favor, especially in this social media age (Classic example).
2.) We’re ranking mega-millionaires here. They are ranked amongst other mega-millionaires. I don’t want to make more of this ranking than that.
3.) I’m rooting for them to win basketball games, not anything else.

Huesteus’s Own MU Spread – Smash Ultimate (5/16/2021)

Realized that matchup charts for different characters are all over the place, usually favoring top tier characters. But for me, I notice I tend to struggle and do well against certain characters no matter who I’m playing. Sure there’s uniquely bad matchups, but the trends are still there! Looking at all of my characters, here’s a tier list for how good/bad I am at every matchup no matter who I’m playing.

Key: +2 = Win a lot, at least 60% of the time

+1 = Win most of the time, around 55%

0 = Even, around 50% MU

-1 = Win below average amount of the time, around 45%

-2 = Horrible at the MU, 40% tops
