The Gameboy Color was my first gaming device and introduced a foundation for my gaming passion. The Gameboy Advance followed that up and is my most beloved console of all time. In relevance of a handful of iconic GBA games finally being on the Virtual Console of the Switch, I thought to make a list dedicated to my love for this era of music. I remember in 2003 going to Toys-R-Us with my dad counting 50 dollars worth of quarters one by one from a mayonnaise jar started by my Bichan in order to get up to the 100 dollars I needed to buy a Gameboy Advance (RIP Bachan and Toys-R-Us).
The console was a revelation for me as in ingrained in me the taste I have today in gaming across the board in an era of peak 2d SRPGS, RPGS, and games building innovative worlds in the constraints of the compressed audio handheld, from Megaman Battle Network, to WarioWare. It should come at no surprise then that this console just very well may be the most represented console on my video game music playlists (this bringing the list to 390+ songs wow!) with well over 35 songs.
